How this guide works: ProCostaRica is an independent information service, not a law, accounting or relocation firm, and nothing here is legal, tax or financial advice. Any paid business profile will be clearly labeled “Paid profile”; payment never buys a verification badge or a place in our editorial guides. How we select providers.
Corporate setup
Companies are registered with the Registro Nacional, usually through an attorney-notary. Companies also have reporting obligations, such as beneficial ownership filings with the Central Bank (BCCR); confirm current requirements with your attorney.
Accountants
Public accountants (CPA) are registered with the Colegio de Contadores Públicos de Costa Rica. Tax filings are made with the Ministerio de Hacienda.
Payroll and employment
Employers register with the CCSS (social security) and must carry workers’ compensation insurance through the INS. An accountant or payroll provider can manage the monthly filings.
